App development in Toronto, from first sketch to the App Store

Sacred Blue Studios is an app development studio in Toronto that designs, builds and ships iOS, Android and web apps, then keeps them running. We build with React Native, Expo, React and Next.js, add AI where it helps, and have shipped our own apps to the App Store and Google Play, including Panjo, a new instrument for all ages.

Apps we have shipped

The best way to judge an app studio is to use its apps. Here are ours.

  • Panjo (panjo.app): half steel pan, half piano, on iPhone, iPad and Android, with live bands of up to four players and 35 trophies to earn
  • Parler (parler123.app): language learning for kids in 15 languages, with more than 15 reading voices and word-by-word pronunciation scoring
  • Jokerz (playjokerz.com): free daily fantasy basketball on the web, with leagues and an AI-hosted livestream
  • Waterfall (waterfallwisdom.com): guided voice conversations that keep a lifetime of stories in the storyteller's own voice
  • Swyble, quick trivia with questions written by AI, on the App Store and Google Play

From first sketch to the App Store

Every app follows the same path, and the same people walk it with you.

  1. Find the moment: who the app is for and what it should make better
  2. Sketch and prototype: screens you can tap before any heavy build
  3. Build in small releases: real software in your hands early and often
  4. Launch: App Store and Google Play submission, store pages and analytics
  5. Run it: monitoring, backups, updates and new features after launch

Built to keep running after launch

99.9% uptime across 7 releases on a national donation platform

Launch day is the start. Sacred Blue has run 30+ cloud projects in production, and its experience includes 7 releases at 99.9% uptime on a national donation platform and page load times cut in half on a production platform.

We set up automated builds with GitHub Actions, infrastructure as code with Terraform, and monitoring that flags problems early.

When your app needs a bigger team

Sacred Blue keeps a small senior core and uses AI coding agents for repetitive work. When an app needs more people, we bring in engineers and designers from a network built over 29 years, so the team grows quickly without a long hiring search.
