Creative AI for kids and families, not AI slop

Sacred Blue Studios is a Toronto studio that builds creative AI for kids and families: apps that help children learn a language, make music together, enjoy sports with friends and keep a grandparent's stories in their own voice. AI is the tool and people stay in charge, so nothing the studio makes is filler or slop.

Four apps, one idea

Technology should bring people closer. Each of our apps starts from a real moment between people, and AI helps only where it makes that moment better.

  • Paper-cut illustration of a grandfather and his granddaughter reading a picture book together

Parler, for language: a child tells about her day, and Parler turns it into an illustrated book in the language she is learning, then reads it with her word by word

  • Paper-cut illustration of three friends cheering on a couch, holding up playing cards beside popcorn and a basketball

Jokerz, for sports: friends pick a Starting 5 before tip-off, and the real box score deals the cards

  • Paper-cut illustration of a family making music together around a steel pan and a piano

Panjo, for music: a new instrument, half steel pan and half piano, so the youngest and the oldest can play the same song together

  • Paper-cut illustration of a grandmother telling her grandson a story, her memories drawn in the clouds above them

Waterfall, for memories: a new question every day, and every story kept in the storyteller's own voice

What not AI slop means in practice

AI slop is content made because it is cheap to make, not because anyone needs it. We hold ourselves to a few plain rules to stay clear of it.

  • Start with a moment, not a model
  • Use AI where it makes life richer, and leave it out where it does not
  • Keep people in charge of what goes out
  • Keep the voice of the person: Waterfall stories stay in the storyteller's own words
  • Let people make the art that matters: in Panjo, the music is played by people

03

Safe by design for kids

Families trust us with their children's stories, voices and time. Each app is designed for the people who use it.

  • Parler draws stories only with cartoon characters a parent has approved, shows no ads and has no feed
  • Parler never uses family data to train AI
  • Panjo has no ads and no tracking, and a grown-up decides what to buy
  • Waterfall keeps every story private until the storyteller shares it
  • Jokerz is made for basketball fans 13 and over

The technology under the warmth

15 languages in Parler, read aloud word by word

Gentle on the outside, serious engineering underneath. Parler reads in 15 languages with more than 15 voices and scores pronunciation word by word, so a child knows exactly which word to try again. Panjo runs live bands of up to four players. Waterfall answers a family's questions with a citation to the story the answer came from.

The studio behind them brings 29 years of shipping software and has run AI in production since 2023.

05

Building for schools and family organizations

Two of our apps are built for classrooms. With Parler for schools, a teacher sets a prompt and every child's book goes home. With Waterfall Classroom, students interview a grandparent or a neighbour.

Sacred Blue also builds for organizations that serve children and families, in education and beyond. If you want an app, a website or an AI feature that families will trust, we would like to hear about it.

It can be, when the app is designed for children from the start. Sacred Blue Studios limits what AI can do, keeps a parent or teacher in charge of what a child sees, avoids ads and feeds, and never uses family data from Parler to train AI.

AI slop is content made because it is cheap to produce, not because anyone needs it. Sacred Blue starts every feature from a real moment between people and uses AI only where it makes that moment better. People stay in charge of what goes out, and stories stay in their owners' own voices.

Sacred Blue makes Parler for language learning (parler123.app), Jokerz for basketball fans 13 and over (playjokerz.com), Panjo for music on iPhone, iPad and Android (panjo.app), and Waterfall for preserving family stories (waterfallwisdom.com).
